    Destination Wedding Photographer. Adventurer. Ninja.

Lover of brussel sprouts, chubby dogs, and Disneyland.

I began taking pictures in middle school when my best friend and I would set up a portrait “studio,” which consisted of hanging up a bed sheet and shining house lamps toward it. Fast forward 20 years and today I am living my dream as a worldwide photographer based in Los Angeles.

Here you will find some of my recent work along with some personal adventures and useless banter.

Look out 2012!

2011 has been excellent for me – a big year of growth.  Besides shooting some kick ass weddings, I took a lot of time to focus on myself (because sometimes we can forget to do that).  I think that to live a fulfilling life . . . to live a life that you love, you have to take responsibility for yourself and put in the work.  You can’t expect things to come by chance or luck.  Your surroundings won’t change to give you what you want.  You have to create it, or at least be prepared to receive opportunity when it comes (this all sounds very Oprah-y, I know).

Everything in my life has fallen into place beautifully and it has never been more apparent than this last year.  Thank you to everyone and everything (and every PARTICLE) that has been a part of it!

I blog about photography quite a bit (you think?) so I thought it’ be nice to share some highlights of 2011 that aren’t just wedding pictures.:)  Here we go . . .

-Meeting new people who inspire me.

Chriselle Lim. This year I’ve begun working with Chriselle on her daily outfit blog posts. If you need ANY styling tips, be sure to visit her blog. It’s amazing!

Jana Williams. Photographer, business woman, and go-getter.  It’s quite magical when we work together. :)

J.G. Weaver and Bo Bilstrup of Onward Entertainment. So talented it’s insane. They did my promo video earlier this year. (Photo taken by a 3 year old, hence half of Jeremy’s face).

-My Travels – Some notable travels of 2011:

Cook Islands and New Zealand for Jay & Amy’s wedding.  I almost went alone but things aligned and I got an awesome travel companion and new friend – Mr. Kyle Tyacke!  You can read about how we ended up traveling together here.

Visiting Banff National Park.

Cancun for Phil & Erin’s wedding and experiencing an all-inclusive resort for the first time.  Those buffets are dangerous.

Discovering Dinosaur Point with Carla.  So happy we found this spot.  I stop here every single time I drive home to the Bay Area!

 -My Birthday.

The simple things is what life is all about. I love my friends.

-Proposals – This year I have begun photographing marriage proposals!  Here’s a behind-the-scenes video of one of them.  Jack & Tawny’s wedding will be next year in November. :)

-AwesomenessFest.  I attend this conference every year and it continues to blow me away.

-Visiting orphanages in Mexico with ChangeFire.  Some pics from the recent trip here.

-Discovering my alter ego.

Yes, the Kung Fu Panda.

Next year is going to be HUGE.  I put a lot of exciting things on my vision board and I’m looking forward to all of them happening (and more)!

Thank you so much if you are reading my blog right now, or if you have ever read it before.  It always lights me up when someone tells me they read my blog.  Seriously!! :D

Happy New Year everyone.

I hate to admit but you’ve taught me so much about life, to be positive…Thank you!

Bangkok Day 1

Anywhere on the globe, I simply love big cities.   Bangkok has been splendid so far.

For destination weddings that are half way around the world (this is my furthest one yet!) I like to fly in early to adjust to the time difference.  I mean, can you imagine photographing a wedding as a zombie?!

The extra days also allow me to really bond with the bride, groom, and their friends and family!

On this trip, instead of staying at a hotel, we have apartments.  Feels homey. :)

I spent the first day wandering the city with the bride and her mom, finishing up the last of the wedding planning.

The FOOD.  It’s quite distracting, really.

Cute puppy with a cup.  Hey, it worked for me!

The turtle looks thrilled.

At night we met with Avril’s other half, Mr. Nick, for some food, drinks, and um, Thai nightlife. :)

I will continue exploring (and eating) my way through the city.  After New Years we will be heading to Rayong where the wedding will be!

Bay Area Engagement Photography: Coyote Point

I just arrived in Bangkok.  Great thing about long flights is that there is A LOT of time to get some good old editing done. :)

Here are a few shots from Matt & June’s engagement photos taken at Coyote Point in Burlingame, CA. I grew up in this area but this was my first time doing a photo shoot here!  Isn’t it pretty?

Low tide gave us a lot of opportunity for running around and getting a little ca-razy!

I love how hard June is laughing here.  My theory: if a guy can make you laugh like this, you are good to go.

Piggy back rides . . . always a good time.

Thanks Matt & June, for being so cute, fun, and super laid back!  No surprise that their wedding will be in MAUI!  I love when people decide to do a destination wedding. :) :) :)

Sooooo . . . I’m in Thailand, it’s 3:00am, I am not tired, but I sure am HUNGRY.  I swear as soon as the clock strikes 6:00am I am RUNNING down to the breakfast buffet.  They better watch out.  RARRRR!!!!!  Nom nom nom nom nom!!

Teri - December 27, 2011 - 1:19 am

I love it. I LOVE it! I LOVE IT!! Thank you so much for the AWESOME photos!! :D

Quality Time with Dad

When is the last time you had quality time with your parents?  Not just talking to them on the phone or seeing them, but actual quality time?

The last time I had QT with my pops was when he joined me for a road trip back to LA from SF.  We stopped at Dinosaur Point off Highway 152.  It’s one of my favorite stops along the drive!  It was his first time there, and he loved it too.

My cute, cute Pops!  It makes me teary when I think about it.  The opportunity is always there to call, ask questions, show love, and engage with our parents, but do we do it as often as we’d like?  It seems like there can never be enough of it.

t - December 23, 2011 - 6:18 am

It’s awesome that you wrote this. I spent alot of time with Mom before she passed. I love the memories.

Great pictures of Dad *sniff sniff*..:)

Linda Lauj - December 28, 2011 - 3:43 am

We all take things for granted… If I can turn back the hands of time and spend one more day with my dad. I would do it in a heart beat.

Groom Getting Ready Photos

I don’t post pictures of the groom and groomsmen getting ready too often, mainly because they always consist of the same 10 things:

 1. Watching Sports.

2. Playing around with what they are supposed to wear.

3. Learning how to put on their clothes.

4. Actually putting on the clothes correctly.

5. Making a phone call.

 6. Pinning on boutonnieres.

7. Bonding.

8. Waiting around.

9. Goofing around.

10. Last but not least, drinking.

Hee hee. The guys are always so much fun.  And CUTE! :)
