    Destination Wedding Photographer. Adventurer. Ninja.

Lover of brussel sprouts, chubby dogs, and Disneyland.

I began taking pictures in middle school when my best friend and I would set up a portrait “studio,” which consisted of hanging up a bed sheet and shining house lamps toward it. Fast forward 20 years and today I am living my dream as a worldwide photographer based in Los Angeles.

Here you will find some of my recent work along with some personal adventures and useless banter.

The Bride & Her Bouquet

There are so many personal touches you can put into a wedding.  One of my favorite things to see is what kind of flowers the bride chooses.  Not just flowers, but nowadays you can use anything to make your bouquet!

Some bouquets of my past brides.  It’s fun to see them side by side.  Each one definitely reflects the bride. :)

Ahhhhhh the peacock bouquet – that wedding got me hooked onto your photography!!! :)

Personal Growth Reminders

I like leaving myself little notes around the house.

A reminder never hurts!

Los Angeles Engagement Photography: Hollywood Blvd & Union Station

Mallory & Kobe flew in all the way from Hong Kong to do their engagement session with me!  It’s always such an honor when people fly in just for their engagement pictures. :)

For their session, we took advantage of some of LA’s greatest landmarks.  We started on Hollywood Blvd, ventured to Union Station, and then finished at the LACMA!

They love Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head. :)

Love this!  Aren’t they cute in their little outfits?

Hollywood Blvd. gets really trafficky and at first I thought, “Why on earth did I choose to shoot from across the street?!.”  I waited a bit for the cars to pass but then remembered that improvising is the way to go.  They happened to be wearing really cute, bright, orange shoes and those really cute, bright orange shoes looked fabulous under the bus. :)

Back in their hotel room for an outfit change.  I like getting ready photos.

Mallory was set on doing things that were very “them” (as it should be!), and eating chocolate in bed is very much so.

Channeling 007.

Union Station.

We found this giant fan.  How can you NOT have fun with that thing?!

“High fashion?”

The LACMA.

Kobe likes taking pictures too.  The in between moments . . . always my fav!

Great shots! The bow tie really adds a nice touch.

85mm f/1.2 Lens – Dave Baez and His Daughter

I tried a new lens today – the 85mm f/1.2.

It is fantastic for portraits!  I typically use the 50mm f/1.2 for portraits but the 85 allows you to step back to give your subjects some space (I like to be close but understand that sometimes space can be good), and the 85 will also give you a tighter (narrower frame) shot.

Dave Baez and his daughter June.

If you take a lot of portraits, I would highly recommend the 85mm f/1.2 but if you are looking for more of an all around general lens, I think the 50mm f/1.2 is more suitable. :)

carleigh - March 12, 2012 - 10:21 am

i am in LOVE with my 85 :) I love this father daughter photo. beautiful!

t - March 12, 2012 - 3:10 pm

So would you say a better general lens is the 50 or the 85?

Christine C. - March 12, 2012 - 6:32 pm

The 50 is definitely a better general lens. I’m going to add that into the blog post now. :)

Photography Tip: Golden Hour

Golden Hour is (roughly) the first and last hour of sunlight during the day.  The sun is lower so that lighting is soft, warm, and shadows are longer.  It’s beautiful.

My engagement sessions are scheduled two hours before sunset to get use of the best light.  It really, really makes a difference when you take portraits during this time so if possible, check the sunset time and schedule your shoot around it!

Happy Shooting! :)
