“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” -Jim Rohn
A couple weeks ago I attended an event in Costa Rica called Awesomenessfest. It’s an entrepreneurial/personal growth/bonding retreat for anyone who wants to make an impact on this planet. Absolutely amazing experience.
I didn’t take too many pictures because I really wanted to be THERE (it was hard, but worth it!), but here are a handful of photos from my point-and-shoot and also other people’s cameras.
The event was at the new JW Marriot at Guanacaste.

You know what makes me happy? THIS! Nothing like eating after a swim, and by swim, I mean dog paddling around the pool once.

Ok, trying my best not to get the heebie jeebies. These little guys were everywhere. We named them all Ted.
Beautiful Sofiah. She’s an amazing dancer. Look at those abs!

Pirate night.

Catamaran cruise.

Our impression of Richard Branson kite surfing with a chick on his back.

Lisa Nichols, most commonly known as “the lady from The Secret.”
Amazing story teller. She made me cry. Wah.

On the last night we attended a party at Joe Walsh’s place: Witch’s Rock Surf Camp in Tamarindo.

Joe Walsh – this guy is my freaking hero. A passionate surfer (can you tell?), he bought an old school bus 10 years ago and drove it down to Costa Rica to start a surf camp. It is now one of the top surf camps in the world: official surf camp of the San Diego Chargers and attracts celebrities like Natalie Portman. What makes it stand out is the sense of community it provides. Joe and his team put a lot of love into what they do and people are always drawn to that. Any successful person on this planet will tell you to do what makes you happy and success will follow. Check out Joe’s blog. He’s an excellent writer, and pretty darn funny too!

I really enjoy the company of visionaries. Thinking about doing something is one thing, getting off your butt and actually doing it is a whole ‘nother. It takes a lot of courage (especially if it’s unconventional) and I dig it!
I have taken the first steps in following my heart (someone once asked what I would be doing if I wasn’t a photographer, and I really can’t think of anything else!), and have many more visions of what WILL be! In fact, I’m having a vision board party tonight! Just the girls. Hm. I better start cleaning.
Next year’s Awesomenessfest will be in Mexico and I encourage everyone who is interested to apply!

Those “little guys” were GIGANTIC!!!!!!!! I swear I can’t stop looking for them even now that we’re back in LA… I should stop otherwise I may manifest one to appear in Santa Monica.
Love the pics, especially your “Richard Branson kitesurfing” pic with Christian haha
Fantastic post! I absolutely love your quote about enjoying the company of visionaries. I would love an invite to your next vision board party or anything similar!
Love Love Love I say:-)
